HOECO Handels GmbH is a long-established wholesale company specializing in mobile cooling and model building.
The company’s roots date back to the 1980s when the foundation for the successful business history was laid in Salzburg under the name WAECO. The first steps were taken in the field of mobile cooling devices and solar technologies.
After several years of growth and development, the company relocated to Ebreichsdorf in Lower Austria, where it further expanded its activities. In the early 1990s, inspired by Hubert Hönigl Jr.’s enthusiasm for RC model sports, the company expanded its range to include products for competitive model building. This expansion marked the beginning of a new chapter that would significantly influence the future direction of the company.
Over time, the RC range steadily grew and gained increasing importance for the company, which renamed itself HOECO (derived from HÖnigl). In the 2000s, the company expanded further and, in addition to the renowned mobile coolers from ENGEL, also added model building products from leading brands such as TRAXXAS, RC4WD, and XRAY, as well as its own brand H-SPEED to its portfolio.
In 2019, HOECO opened its own race track directly on the company premises. This facility allows for testing and further development of their own products under real conditions – a testament to the company’s commitment to consistently offering the highest quality and performance.
With the transfer of management from Hubert Hönigl Sr. to his son in 2023, a new era begins for HOECO. The combination of tradition and innovation remains at the heart of the company as it continues its success story into the future.
